FAQ
Questions, answered.
Can this help me if I'm managing a chronic illness as a parent or caregiver?+
Yes. Carrying health information for yourself — or for a child or parent — while running a household is exhausting. A prep session helps you organize the history, decide what matters most for this appointment, and walk in with a clear plan instead of a mental list.
Can this help me if I don't have a clear diagnosis yet or feel dismissed?+
This is one of the most common reasons people reach out. When symptoms are unexplained, the way you tell your story shapes what gets heard. Together we turn months of experience into a concise, specific account and the questions you need answered.
How does patient communication training differ from medical advice?+
We don't diagnose, prescribe or recommend treatments. Patient communication training focuses on you: organizing your narrative, prioritizing your questions and speaking with confidence, so your care team has what they need to help you.
What is a patient advocate or patient navigator?+
A patient advocate supports you in speaking up for your needs in the health system. A patient navigator typically helps you find your way through services, referrals and next steps. Our work sits alongside both: we help you become a stronger advocate for yourself.
What should I prepare before an important doctor or specialist appointment?+
Start with your main concern in one sentence, how it is impacting you, what has changed, a short timeline of symptoms, what you've already tried, current medications, and your top three questions. Decide what a good outcome looks like before you go in and have a goal. The Tender platform and a prep call can help you build this.
What happens during a 1:1 prep session with Ashley?+
We define the problem you're bringing in, shape your story into something clear and specific, and practise saying it out loud. You leave with your key points and questions ready. Sessions are by video call; start with a free 10-minute consult if you're unsure.
